The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center’s 2024 Infection Prevention Conference is intended to provide education to healthcare professionals who have an interest in or responsibilities related to infection prevention. Audience examples include infection preventionists, infection prevention champions, public health professionals, epidemiologists, and antimicrobial stewardship program pharmacists.

Focus will be on evidence-based best practices for reducing healthcare-associated infections, resources for infection prevention professionals, expanding infection prevention and control knowledge and training, strategies for an effective infection prevention program, and providing updates on public health threats.

This is a one-day, in-person course with optional on-demand content. Registration is limited. On-demand content will be available for viewing starting on Tuesday, October 8th and will offer four pre-recorded modules for self-study. Please see agenda for details. CE credit is available.

 

Objectives:

  1. Discuss recent updates in best practice guidelines for reducing healthcare-associated infections.

  2. Review strategies to prevent transmission of infections. 

  3. Describe current public health threats, mitigation strategies, and reporting requirements.

  4. Identify important components of a successful facility-wide infection prevention program.

  5. Learn strategies to expand infection prevention knowledge to front-line healthcare professionals.

The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center (VIPTC) was created to meet the growing needs of healthcare and congregate care facilities in the areas of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). Our goal is to work collaboratively with healthcare facilities and public health agencies in order to strengthen infection prevention and control expertise by providing universal IPC training to frontline providers. Education and training on these principles are essential to building capacity in facilities and state agencies in Virginia and beyond.
